I had to make the necessary plug to attach it to the cross slide, but otherwise the 10"-12" is an excellent fit on my lathe (which has a height from the cross slide, with the compound removed, to the centerline of the spindle 3").

Nov 21, 2005· I paid around $600 for a nice little horizontal mill with vertical head.... it will eat the attachment for lunch, and cut a few gears for dessert. Now, if you buy the Metal Lathe Acessories milling stuff, that is some serious heft, and will work a lot better than the OEM Atlas stuff.

I was wondering if there ever was a vertical milling attachment for a horizontal mill? It would seem that it would be a somewhat useful attachment. It could slide on the over arm ways and either be powered by the horizontal spindle or be self contained with its own motor. My horizontal mill is not accurate enough I think as pertains to the table movement to be of much real use.
